Marco Begaye is a
Navajo silversmith who was strongly influenced by his father, Jimmy
Begaye, and his brothers Jason and Vernon. Born in 1957 in Phoenix,
Marco was raised on the Navajo reservation. He later lived in Gallup
where he learned from master jeweler, Lee Yazzie. Marco uses silver
and only the finest coral and turquoise as he creates modern styles
while staying true to the native craftsmanship. You may have seen
some of his work in Arizona Highways magazine and the book Navajo
Indian Jewelry by Jerry and Lois Jacka. He received top awards from
the Annual Intertribal Ceremonial in Gallup.
