Leonard Gene is a Navajo, born and raised on the reservation. He taught himself silversmithing. His work makes use of Navajo traditional stamp work combined with more  contemporary designs. He designs and fabricates his own stamping tools. He also works with gold and precious gems. 

Leonard strongly believes silversmithing helps kkeep him connected to his native heritage.
