| Michael Kirk was
born in in Albuquerque in 1949 to a family of artists. He is of
Isleta Pueblo and Navajo decent. After enlisting in the Marines, he
served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971.
After his military service he
studied jewelry at the graduate level at University of New Mexico
and also took jewelry casting classes at New Mexico Community
College. He loves to create one-of-a-kind and made-to-order pieces.
He makes use of precious stones, semi-precious stones, silver (in
various forms), and gold. Some of his works is on permanent display
at the famous Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
Michael and his wife Marie
have three children and four grandchildren. Two of his children are
involved in the business end of his work.
