Allison Snowhawk
Lee is a Navajo silversmith born on the Navajo reservation. He first
learned silversmithing in school at the age of 12.
In summers of
high school years he worked at Gallup silver shops. He started by
sweeping floors but soon became acquainted with the top silversmith,
from whom he learned his techniques. Each summer he find work in a
different shop, learning from each master. Now he is the master and
his shop employs high school apprentices.
He has won many
honors in many in seven different states.
Allison uses
silver or occasionally 14 karat gold, and sets it with coral,
turquoise, or other semi-precious stones such as coral or
turquoise.
